Day 8

• Breakfast at the resort and checked out of the resort • Wat Si Chum, the talking buddha (Phra Achana) and a 200-year-old mango tree • 大城府, 泰國第二王朝 • On way to Ayutthaya, stopped near Khao No and photographed rice field tillage in action (by the east side of route 1) • Got to Ayutthaya around 1500 and had lunch at the renowned Pa Lek boat noodle house next to Wat Mahathat • Visited Wat Mahathat • Checked in Klong Suen Plu Resort (Khlong Suan Phlu) around 1745, a truly one-of-the-kind place. More on that to follow • Visited Wat Chaiwatthanaram around 1900 for its lighted night scene • Dinner at Baan Mai Rim Nahm on the river; had soft shell crabs, grilled and raw shrimps, pineapple fried rice, and smoothies • Too late to visit the crowed weekend night market, so we headed back to the resort
